WHY ARE RAIN GUTTERS NEEDED ON MOST HOMES?

Your rain gutter system is one of the most important protection mechanisms for your home. If not handled properly, rainwater can cause serious and expensive problems at your roof or at the ground.

In two words . . .

ROT & INSECTS
Most home roofs have wood components that are vulnerable to both.
The most vulerable components are:

• Fascia (the board to which your gutters are attached)
• Soffit (the board under the roof overhang-behind gutter)
• Decking (the 4 x 8 ft. plywood or particle board under the shingles)
• Joists and rafters (structural components) 

Depending on the trees near your house and how clean you keep your gutters, even a properly installed guttering system and downspouts frequently allow rain to get to these components and speed the rotting process.
